For the sake of humanity, cities around the world are spending taxpayer money on public fitness spaces such as running tracks, sports fields, and workout equipment within walking distance of your home - making it as convenient as possible to exercise in your neighborhood. You spend the majority of your time at home and work. If you live in a luxury apartment, many developers provide a full-size gym as a wellness amenity to attract loyal tenants. All you need to do is go downstairs and use the gym. For people who live in a home or apartment without a gym, you can deduct purchase of in-home gym equipment as a medical expense with a doctor’s letter stating the equipment is a prescription for you to lose weight in treating obesity, diabetes, heart disease, or another health issue. At work, many companies and commercial real estate developers invest in onsite gyms for employees to use as companies understand that a healthy workforce reduces healthcare costs and improves work productivity.
