Here are the life-threatening effects of obesity
Personally, I’ve overcome obesity 3 times: childhood (Age 10), college freshman 15 (Age 18), and corporate desk job weight gains (Age 23). Training with partners for social accountability and motivation propelled me thru those challenging times. Many people attempt their entire lives figuring out fitness and nutrition but end up dying. The World Health Organization health guidelines can be achieved by exercising 3 times a week to reduce/avoid obesity. Obese people can incur lifetime costs of $500,000 for lower extremity amputations (LEA). At the end of the day, you choose the way you want to live. You can continue to be stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity or jump on the fast track to success. If you’re satisfied with mediocrity, please STOP READING as you should go back to whatever else is more important than your HEALTH. Diet is easy - just smash your large plates for portion control and eat well-balanced meals with protein, vegetables, and fat. Cut the carbs, booze, sugar, fast food, and smoking. Exercise is the most difficult piece of the health puzzle because a time commitment to get off the couch is required. Insanity is expecting greatness from doing the same thing - which for many people is watching TV, using social media, eating junk food, and feeling sorry for yourself when the doctor diagnoses you as obese for not being proactive with your health. Sickness Industry Globesity is a word coined by the World Health Organization as “Global Obesity” where 90% of the world will be obese similar to the future displayed in “Wall-E” movie filled with “fitless humans” eating junk food and watching TV. Visual crack are forms of multimedia that can be consumed on your phone, tablets, computer, etc. The rise of technology has enhanced life, but has also stolen away your precious time everyday on non-value add activities. In North America alone, the average Facebook user spends 30 minutes a day in the app wasting $1 trillion of economic productivity based on just a minimum wage-level. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has even suggested a social media tax similar to that for cigarettes. As of 2018, Netflix has 100 million subscribers worldwide hooked into binge-watching TV shows where the average person watches 5 straight episodes. That’s equivalent to 33% of America’s population. Between Netflix and popular video platform YouTube, the average person consumers 20 HOURS...20 HOURS of social media a week as if consuming “visual crack” is their part-time job. On the job, the average worker wastes 2 hours a day. According to a survey, 59% of people waste company money watching porn on the job. In addition to porn, employees waste time online shopping, scheduling their online date, or playing mindless app games. As mentioned, the World Health Organization’s guideline is 3 hours of exercise a week. Just shaving off “1 hour” of your wasted time for 3 days each week can be allocated for onsite group exercise. This allows you and your community to stay HEALTHY and be PRODUCTIVE - no longer needing to make the “No Time” excuse and paying the price of expensive healthcare. In terms of physical consumables, fast food, alcohol, smoking, and drugs MUST be eliminated from your life if you want to be healthy. Pharmaceuticals receive large amounts of government TAXPAYER money for research & development (R&D) for prescription drugs. Pharmaceuticals care for your health but are incentivized to provide short-term prescriptions for your health problems so that you, the PATIENT, will endlessly return to buy more drugs. If pharmaceuticals spend R&D money on providing a one-shot cure, then you would be a one-shot customer providing just 1 transaction for pharmaceuticals. There must be more government pressure mandated onto pharmaceutical companies to focus on CURES instead of temporarily relievers, but this is no easy feat as pharmaceutical companies have a strong lobbyist presence and provide huge amounts of political funding contributions. Just like the government TRIED to discipline the greedy Wall Street Bankers who caused the 2008 Subprime Mortgage Financial Crisis, giving out mortgages to anyone with a FICO score and a pulse, that left millions of Americans unemployed, bankrupt, and robbed of the American Dream of homeownership, the government must discipline pharmaceuticals to take people’s health in their best interest and likely the MISSION of their company. The American Healthcare system is one of the most broken in the world. Many unhealthy people are refused care by hospitals for not having adequate insurance coverage. Further disturbing is that large insurance companies have denied patient care without a physician reviewing a patient’s medical records. This company is under investigation. Due to the exorbitant premiums required by insurers, some patients end up bankrupt causing the insurers to viciously sell the patients to debt collectors. To fix a broken system, company leaders must be willing to disrupt the vulturous insurers. As of 2018, a big 3 of Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, and Jamie Dimon are taking the lead to change healthcare that has the ability for American-wide rollout. This single announcement spooked health care stocks to drop in fear of disruption. Competition is great as those who serve the customer best WINS. Global Movement All movements begin LOCALLY by individuals who are passionate about particular causes. From the beginning of human existence, there have been numerous social movements fueled by a shared anger over a common ENEMY. Global health’s common enemy is the sickness industry. Sadly, society tends to revere athletes, celebrities, politicians, and influential people that they’ll never ever meet in their lifetime, but never appreciate greatness in front of their eyes in business, personal, academic, and athletic realms. This is normal - as people tend to feel threatened by the presence of someone better than them versus the revere set aside for hollywood stars who they’ll never match in their lifetime. People need to band together. Carole Carson is a great example who at Age 60 was embarrassed for being fat so held herself socially accountable to lose 60 pounds with the power of the community. Don’t ever think you’re too “washed up” to achieve anything in life. Age is just a number. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to. A closer look at participants reveal that the majority of participants are those who already exercise. The couch potatoes are still sitting at home watching TV and eating unhealthy food. CEOs must lead from the front as generals do an army. Employees must be viewed as assets versus a liability on the balance sheet because people help run the business. By prioritizing employee health, CEOs will see reduction in healthcare spending and improved productivity. The social aspect of group exercise holds everyone accountable to achieve their health goals while strengthening team camaraderie to deliver customer value. As always you “get what you pay for.” The price for inaction for one patient is a hospital bill of $500,000 for a lower extremity amputation. Group fitness is the hottest trend on the planet as people are willing to spend $30-$50 at least 3 times a week to stay healthy and dominate business. Companies are devoting billions of dollars into anti-aging research to slow down the ageing process in enjoying life more. At Age 30, I still get asked whether I’m 18 years old by the swimming lifeguard. I laugh at the lifeguard not because of feeling insulted but take that as a compliment to the hard work I put into maintaining a healthy lifestyle to accomplish my life goals. When I attend college alumni “Welcome Freshman” events, admissions officers as well as prospective 17-year old high school seniors think I’m a rising college student! Having attended the fittest and brightest university in the world - being surrounded by Wonder Woman's and Goku’s allows me to tap into “next level” performance at-will. Looking young, fit, and smart is the greatest feeling. Who doesn’t want that? Success As Plato said, "To succeed in life, perfection is achieved thru Education + Exercise." Raise your hand if you love being discriminated against for being fat, shy, dumb, slow, poor? Me either. I’ve been discriminated against my whole life and use these slights as fire to smash the bamboo ceiling. You can read more HERE. Success can take on many meanings whether it's in your love life, academic achievements, athletic milestones, or business success. Hollywood and athlete success inspire people to pursue their passions. Athletes on average make $20 million a year over a 20 year career that nets them $400 million in their lifetime. Actors like Dwayne Johnson make $10 million per movie and singers like Taylor Swift make $1 million per 1 hour concert during a 90-city World Tour. The ability to profit from your passion such as putting objects thru a hole, flexing your muscles on the big screen, or writing songs without needing an elite college education means ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Being fit and healthy allows you to enjoy life. Personally, you can find a compatible love partner and raise a family in your dream house. In college, you’ll thrive intellectually to get admitted to elite colleges, obtain the best grades, win club board or captain leadership positions, and land lucrative career opportunities over your peers. In business, being fit allows you to get the best assignments, coveted promotions, salary raises, and recognition as a star in the company. There is no participation trophy in life. You have to put in the work. Just like in sports - teams pick players to serve as starters, role players, and bench warmers. Anyone else doesn’t make the team. Legacy “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose” is how Steve Jobs approached everyday until his unfortunate death that shocked the world. Steve is the poster-child for misfits, disruptors, game-changers, rebel, and growth mindset. Steve didn’t want to wake up disgruntled like most people so he strove to “make a dent in the universe.” Everyday, he was able to go home at night and happily say “What a great life.” Money doesn’t buy happiness. Land of Opportunity When Obama signed the Jobs Act Title III, he said “America is a nation of doers, where visionary founders, who may be the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Mark Zuckerberg, turn improbable ideas into strong businesses.” Only in America can someone pursue their passions freely. Being fit allows you to unlock untapped potential to achieve greatness with new personal heights of mind and body. Never again take living in America for granted. In some countries, citizens of the country risk their lives getting shot in the ass in crossing the borderline for freedom. You should be grateful for not being forced into hopeless poverty. In life, someone is always holding you back - called trollers, haters, and doubters. These people could be your parents, your love, your friends, your teachers, your work boss, your athletic coach, your college career center, social media, etc. Take matters into your own hand as successful people prioritize fitness. Fight or Flight Having grown up in Maine, USA - it’s a very peaceful state where I broke thru being dumb, unfit, shy, and fat to obtain an elite college education and martial arts skills. When you leave your house, the college bubble, workplace, place of worship, etc into the general public of 7 billion people, no one cares about your GPA, school, how much weight you can lift, how many beers you can drink, how many people you’ve made love with, your net worth, etc as its survival of the fittest. Over your lifetime, you have or will encounter life-threatening situations where you need to defend yourself. A lot of buffed meatheads in the gym or a rich person would screech like a baby the moment they saw a mouse. Instead of an upgrade in safety after college, I moved down to Dorchester, MA where I carried a knife with me at all times wearing street clothes before changing into professional clothes at work. For one summer, I lived in Newark, NJ (car theft capital of the world) where gangs killed each other after 8PM. Fortunately, I survived those living conditions due to the confidence gained with a “fight or flight” exercise regimen. No way I’d be prepared if I just “checked the box in the gym” like most people who show up to the gym watching TV and eating donuts. We all survived the moment we became an embryo when 1 of your father’s 200 million sperm from ejaculation won the battle to match with your mother’s egg to create you. The odds of you making the right decision to exercise (50%) are better than odds of 1/200 million sperm that created you. “It’s do or do not. There is no try.” Our group exercise class will prepare you for fight (self-defense) or flight (speedy escape) skills essential in life.
